After the Silence, An Update on Big Sky Honey Farm

May 11, 2010

It’s been quiet here, hasn’t it?  Time for an update, lest you think Big Sky has dropped off the map.  Five months ago, Brian (the sole beekeeper and heart of Big Sky Honey Farm) was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and given a very poor prognosis.  On the heels of the theft of his beehives over the summer, this was life-altering news.  The sort of news that snaps everything into focus and makes life seem incredibly precious.  While Brian will not head to Montana to produce another honey crop this summer, he recently started over with a handful of new hives in Bellingham, Washington, where he grew up.  He is still bottling honey from the previous harvest, and this beautiful single-estate honey is available online through our friends at Foodzie.

Brian, I am so very sorry to hear of your losses and trials. Stay strong, and I will keep you in my prayers.
